Let’s do an election thread! I have very low faith PJB will actually transfer power, but I think it’ll be a good exercise to do regardless.
Since I can’t even login to my SS14 account since I apparently have an SS14-wide ban, let’s start an election thread here instead. I welcome others to announce their candidacy in this thread. Then we can do some votes.
Candidate: Skye
I run the Space Station Multiverse launcher/engine fork. At its peak (prior to being auth banned), this fork accounted for ~10% of the SS14 userbase and the majority of SS14 servers cross-listed to its hub.
I have long been a critic of WizDen’s senior leadership and advocated for better treatment of players and contributors.
If elected, I would:
Reset the bans and give everyone a fresh start, especially hub bans which have not been handled well by WizDen.
Rebuild bridges to unfairly banned parties and encourage past contributors and staff to return. Guarantee humane and respectable treatment between senior staff and contribs/players.
I would integrate MV Auth (a decentralized auth solution) into upstream’s launcher, so servers & players would have the choice of using an auth which cannot be suddenly taken away from them. (Servers & players would still be able to use regular WizDen auth should they wish to)
I would run the hub like SS13/Lummox, where I would be mostly hands off of community-run servers except for legal/TOS issues. I pledge to never do the coup tactics of SS14 hub moderation.
I would keep the official upstream servers/codebase running to provide ongoing stable releases for downstream forks under the existing MIT license. However, if another group arose that was willing to run an MIT licensed vanilla fork and had considerable traction, I would consider transferring server authority to them entirely and only running the launcher/hub.

May as well post here since I’ve posted my plan to the Wizden forums.
Experience
15 years in game community management from Minecraft Beta, Garry’s Mod 10 to Space Station 13/14. The same amount of time in amateur game development.
SS14 developer since ~2019/20. I was once a top 10 contributor for number of commits and top contributor for LoC due to being one of the first mappers (I wrote the guides on mapping that still exist today).
Was a wizden game admin during the explosive growth in 2021-2023 and during the first community drama with Nyano.
I’ve ran SS14 communities for ~3 years.
I’m currently a professional engineer working on multi billion dollar projects so know what good project management can look like.
I’m also a “YouTuber” so I’m already a public figure. I have two publicly listed companies, one is in game development and is registered on steam (no games published).
And a final note to add although not experience. I’m not financially motivated, I know how to run a Patreon. I’m pro transparency and accountability and I’m based in the UK. I also have a child, I’m emotionally stable, rational and mature.
With that out of the way, to save rewriting what I already wrote, here is my plan of action if I were to be selected and the first point is consistent with Skye. Amnesty, start fresh, fix the policy and organisation issues that have plagued this game for years.
I will add the attached document is intended to rescue the game as a whole, but the intent will be greater flexibility and integration with downstreams, launchers and improved hub administration, as someone who has been off hub for 18 months and assisted with the creation of Space Station Beyond (I named it).
