Ss14.info - history and stats for servers on every hub, with a free API

Hi everyone,

I’ve been building a server tracker for Space Station 14 and wanted to show it here, because it’s built on the idea that the game has more than one hub: ss14.info.

It reads every hub it knows about (Wizard’s Den, Space Station Multiverse, and Simple Station / Space Station Beyond), merges the lists and keeps the history. Every server gets one page wherever it’s registered, and each hub has its own page with server and player counts over time.

What might be useful here:

  • History for every server: players over time, peaks, uptime, round lengths, and a “when to join” heatmap in your time zone
  • Notifications by browser push or Discord DM: new round, free slot on a full server, or when the server back online
  • A free JSON API, read-only, with CORS and no key: servers, history, heatmaps and per-hub totals, if you want to build your own apps on top of it
  • Widgets and badges in HTML, Markdown and BBCode, for a station’s website, a README or a thread in Station Links
  • For station owners: claim your page to add a description, links, a session schedule for playtests and a self-updating status message in Discord!

There are no ads and no paid features, and lists are sorted only by player count.

I know ss14.fyi already covers the cross-hub server list, and I’m not trying to step on it. This is aimed more at history and at tools for hosts and developers. If there’s a hub I’m missing, or I’ve got something about yours wrong, please tell me and I’ll fix it. I’d also like to hear what data you’d want that isn’t there yet.

That’s cool! I made ss14.fyi but you’ve definitely taken yours further with some pretty useful features. Thank you also for including alt hubs on yours as well ^.^

The event schedule was something I had planned to do but never got around to, since the forum here has a scheduling feature I was going to set up a system so eventmins could post their events here and it would show up on their server page, but alas, never got around to it.

I had also thought about doing a server news feed by having servers publish either a RSS link in their server info endpoints or posting news in the relevant subforum here and then that showing up in a global feed of server news, but again, got distracted by other stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t dare to include a reviews section since I worried that would end up getting raids / turf wars. Maybe it’ll work well though, I’ll be curious to watch

Your notification feature is pretty cool, I’ve been meaning to set up a bot like that which sends me a ntfy.sh ping when server count rises over a certain threshold (with a cooldown timer) – pretty much only useful for small servers that only play periodically, though.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

I’d like to point out problems with website: it serves “Forbidden” to Tor network users and serves entirety of traffic over Cloudflare. Both have negative consequences for would-be user. Consider if you indeed need to entirely block users taking measures against ever-present tracking on the web, consider if you indeed need to surrender all their traffic to sketchy big tech that just happens to handle large chunk of web traffic.
